Can you believe this?  This is an outrage!  They keep tasering this student at the library of all places.  They keep asking him to get up, but how can you possibly get up after having had a spurt of electricity sent through your body that is designed to cripple you to some degree?

The worst part about this whole thing is that while I was surfing around hoping to read about people's outrage surrounding this issue, I actually found posts about people who agreed with what had happened!  I mean let's be realistic, this guy is a) sitting at the library, b) he's not drunk and c) poses no threat to the police officers safety.  Was there a need to taser this guy 5 times in the course of 6 minutes?  This is quite clearly a case of police over stepping their bounds.  I'd like to think that this has nothing to do with race, but you've got to wonder sometimes.  Would this have happened had it not been someone of colour?  Let alone someone who is muslim?

The other thing that shocks me is that I wonder how many incidents occur for every incident that is recorded.  I mean this guy has a legitimate case to prove that these officers acted out of order, but how many cases occur every day where it becomes the victim's word against the police officer?

I would like to think that the world that is being transformed into a global multicultural melting pot with people becoming more understanding of others cultures, but after seeing this I have to wonder if we're not degenerating back into neanderthals.
